The four steps are: install the app, enter your license key, sign in with Google or Microsoft (for email sending and GBP access), and confirm your Square connection if you want payment-triggered review requests. There is no onboarding call required and no developer involvement needed.
OwnRep monitors Google Business Profile and Yelp. Google is the primary platform — it pulls new reviews, drafts AI responses, and emails them to you for approval. Yelp is read-only; OwnRep surfaces new Yelp reviews so you're aware of them, but you respond to Yelp directly through Yelp's own interface. Yelp's terms of service prohibit automated posting, so that boundary is by design.
Your customer data, ticket history, and review drafts are stored locally on your computer — not in a cloud database controlled by JK Creative LLC. The only external calls OwnRep makes are to Google's API (to read your GBP reviews), to Yelp's API (read-only), and to Gemini (to generate response drafts). JK Creative has no ongoing access to your business data or your accounts after setup is complete.
Yes, you can cancel at any time with no penalty. If you cancel, the app continues to run on your computer — you just stop receiving updates and your license key will no longer authenticate for new installs. Your local data remains yours. There is no export fee and no data held hostage.
Yelp's API and terms of service restrict automated posting of review responses. OwnRep surfaces new Yelp reviews for you but does not draft or post responses for Yelp. You'll respond to those manually through Yelp's own business dashboard. Google Business Profile is where OwnRep delivers the most value, and Google is the dominant review platform for local service businesses and hospitality.
Gemini produces professional, contextually appropriate drafts in the large majority of cases. You should expect to use the draft as-is or with minor edits roughly 80% of the time. For nuanced negative reviews or unusual situations, you may rewrite more substantially. The drafts are a starting point — the approval step exists precisely because no AI draft should go out without a human read. You are never required to post a draft you don't like.
OwnRep is currently optimized for single-location businesses. If you operate multiple locations, each location would require its own license and install. Multi-location dashboard consolidation is on the product roadmap but is not available in the current version. If managing multiple locations is a core requirement, reach out before purchasing and we'll be direct about whether OwnRep is the right fit right now.
OwnRep runs on macOS (10.15 Catalina or later) and Windows (10 or later). It requires an active internet connection for API calls to Google, Yelp, and Gemini. A Square account is required to use the payment-triggered review request feature, though you can also trigger review requests manually without Square. You do not need a developer, a server, or any technical background to install or operate the app.
